Curatorial Statement:

“There is no singular African narrative, we need to tell all the stories that demonstrate the diversity of the African experience” - Moky Makura

In recent years, Africa and her media have made a conscious effort to reclaim our stories and how we tell them. With talented photographers and storytellers emerging daily on the continent there is no shortage of remarkable visual stories making their way to our social media feeds. The Narratives Published exhibition has collected photographs from 23 photographers spanning 12 African countries in an effort to recognize the skill and efforts of these photographers and storytellers.

Within the Narratives Published exhibition, 7 Zimbabwean photographers will have their work showcased by artHarare, a virtual contemporary art fair, for the month of October. We all have remarkable stories to tell about seemingly everyday things. By celebrating each of the 7 photographer’s exploration of the stories closest to their hearts, we came up with 11 images that each shed a unique light on our beautiful Zimbabwe.
