Unpublished Africa continues to create opportunities African photographers
Unpublished’s work through Creative cohort two of its flagship program Creative Business Studio.
Harare, Zimbabwe: Following photography exhibitions, publications and workshops a photography week involving over 23 artists from the African continent, Unpublished will assist artists in navigating the business of creativity. Through its flagship program, Creative Business Studio, artists will professionalise their craft, and better their businesses with the support of industry experts and business strategists.
The first cohort of the program Creative Business Studio was open to photographers and creatives that have founded organisations with a mission to capacitate creatives in various sectors. With applicants from over fifteen countries, the first cohort saw participants from Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe come together for workshops facilitated by Zimbabwean industry experts who also offered consultations to assist the artists in applying the knowledge gained to their specific case.
Creative Business Studio culminates in a publication and this cohort contributed work that showcased their interpretation of the UN Sustainable Development Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. Visual storytellers capture and provide the world with stories that breakthrough the language barrier. It is imperative that their stories also be told, and this publication – ‘Africa Published’, alongside its founding organisation are a platform for the sharing of the African creative’s journey and narrative.
The second cohort of Creative Business Studio is taking place from 12 June to 21 July 2023 open to photographers looking to professionalise their craft. Participants of the program will also be invited to contribute to the second volume of the publication Africa Published.
